SCITT teacher training in Essex
Why Essex and Thames Primary SCITT?
Essex and Thames Primary SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) offers high quality teacher training in primary education. The one-year SCITT course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the award of a PGCE in Primary Education with 60 credits towards a masters degree. The Assessment Only route leads to QTS in 6-12 weeks.
School Direct PGCE
Essex and Thames Primary SCITT is the largest provider of primary School Direct places in the region. As a school-based route into teaching, over 120 schools have joined our partnership throughout Essex, Southend, Thurrock and East London giving us the capacity to give our SCITT students a wide range of valuable experiences and making them highly confident newly qualified teachers, ready to enjoy and embrace the exciting challenges of the teaching profession.
Many teacher training courses are either School Direct (i.e. school based) or a University lead PGCE (more theory and less classroom practise) but our SCITT School Direct PGCE gives you the best of both routes into teaching. We passionately believe that our newly qualified teachers are amongst the most successful NQTs in the country because of it.
Assessment Only QTS
Graduates already teaching as unqualified teachers are encouraged to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within 6-12 weeks by taking advantage of our ‘Assessment Only‘ route into teaching.
