Wickford Teaching School Alliance Opportunities
Who are Wickford Teaching School Alliance?
Wickford Teaching School Alliance comprises 17 school partners; these are a mixture of Infant, Primary, Junior, Secondary and Special Schools. These schools are in the South Essex area but we do have partners in King’s Lynn too. Our two Lead schools are part of HEARTS Academy Trust, an academy of 6 schools. The HEARTS acronym encapsulates our vision, a commitment to providing a happy, caring and safe learning environment for all within a values led context, where everyone feels valued and grows in confidence and independence.
Who should apply?
We are looking for trainee teachers who are committed to our values and want to make a difference to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our schools support a large percentage of children who are in receipt of the Pupil Premium Grant and we have Alternative Provision Centres for those children at risk of exclusion.
Successful trainee teachers are encouraged to accept a teaching post within the HEARTS Academy or in one of our partner Alliance schools. We are proud to say, that 100% of our 2016-17 cohort of trainees are in employment.
Ongoing training opportunities?
We operate a ‘cradle to grave’ CPD programme for our trainees. Once they have been awarded QTS they join an NQT programme. In their third year of teaching they have access to an RQT (Recently Qualified Teachers) training programme and if they aspire to be a middle leader they can request to undertake the NPQML(National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders). Our senior leader training has involved staff undertaking the NPQSL(National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders) the DfE funded Courageous Leaders Programme for LGBTQI(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual, Queer & Intersex life) teachers. Staff also have access to a variety of network meetings run across the Alliance.
As an Alliance and an Academy we also encourage our staff to reach out and support other schools. A number of our teachers are SLEs (Specialist Leaders of Education) and they work across the country to support schools in need.
